Photographer's Note

Plumed basilisk also called commonly the green basilisk is the largest basilisk species. Including the tail, it can reach 3 feet in total length. In fact the tail did not fit within the frame, as I had tele lens on the camera. Males have three crests: one on the head, one on the back, and one on the tail. So this one is male.
Basilisk is able to run short distances across water using both its feet and tail for support. In Costa Rica, this has earned the plumed basilisk the nickname Jesus Christ lizard.
