interesting photo of interesting event.
Wonder if this is a part of any scientific experiment, there actually was and experiment (think in Canada) where they took an endengared species (can't remember what, not geese but one of those that fly south for winter), raised young birds, acustomed them to follow a small plane and led them south.

Lovelu composition Lucas! I think it could be located in decisive moment category too.

I think the wing cut could be resolved in the photoshop, If you want I can made a ws for you.
