Photographer's Note

Half Moon Cay is the new name Holland America Cruise Line gave the Bahamian island of Little San Salvador when they purchased it for $6.5 million in 1996. Historians believe that this may be where Columbus first touched down in 1492. If it had been me, I would never have left.

This place is truly an island paradise. The first day I spent there was sunny and warm with just enough breeze to keep it from being too hot. The waters were crystal clear and bath-water warm. The beaches are fine white sand as soft as velvet.

With all the passengers and crew enjoying this place alongside me, my challenge was framing a shot with no people in it. I managed in this one, allowing me a glimpse of what it might look like to have my own private island some day.

Unsharp mask and crop. Nothing else. The colour was just this lovely in reality.
