3 last photos from the village of Kompong Phluk showing houses of various styles and in various stages of disrepair.
The main photo shows some colourful houses in a more or less modern style but with part of one house looking like it is about to topple into the water.
The 2 WS photos show more traditional styled houses. The first WS shows a very cluttered group of houses whilst the last one has the most traditional range of materials used in construction.

Hi Ian,
The floating water hyacinth with its yellow green colour contrasts well with the reflected blue skylight. Looks like the central house has subsided a bit to the left, probably due to subsidence or rotted poles. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
Such floating villages are very picturesque. These buildings look very colourful and nice but rather in disrepair state. Especially the green one looks that one day it falls down into the water. The plants look nice too. I have read that the fate of the population near the Tonle Sap lake is threatened by climate change and deforestation of the area around. after seeing the Angkor Wat complex, I wanted to see such villages but my group preferred to return to Thailand. What a pity! I regret it.
Best regards MAlgo

Hello Ian ,
A picturesque colorful village on the water .
But it must not be so easy to live in the house in the middle !

Hello Ian,
This one and WS #2 show colourful houses that could be described as cozy and charming, in a way. Not that I would like to live there, but they are perfect for photographs.
Regards,
Gert

These houses look as if they are on the point of capsizing, but I am sure they are there today still. The bold colours reflect nicely on the water.
good daily life scenes.

I can see some of the wooden stilts houses already tilted with the ground unstable above water, Ian.
Yet, colors under bright daylight superbly shown on this. WS's also attractive on the same subject.
Good evening,
Ike

Hello Ian
Looks like many of these homes are only as good as what the next storm will allow. You have presented a nice series of images to show the meager existence of many. But I bet they are happy. Happiness is in the mind for sure. Thanks for sharing. nice work

Hi Ian,
You have captured well the ripples on the water. The point of view is showing the details of Kompon Phluk Houses. The light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian, I would be rather worried if the leaning house were mine!
It makes a good focal point for your picture.
I notice that there are large aerials of one kind and another, so modern technology is present in these houses on the water.
A fascinating subject, an excellent series of shots.
The rippled water with the reflections is a lovely feature of the pictures.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ian,
Another charming view from this place built on water. This time that building leaning towards left catches immediate attention. Not the most solid structure!

Hello Ian,
I think I would be quite worried if the green house were mine! It looks as if it is slowly tilting into the water!
I wonder if there is a problem with the conditions of the stilts! They must need replacing or repairing periodically.
Despite that, this is a very picturesque scene, with its colours and cultivated greenery.
Your photographs have fine clarity, allowing us to study them in detail. I can see in the w/s how the steps lead to the boats and, like the stilts, will have more or less visible as the water changes depth.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian,
Yes, these are the houses I've seen ... but then without any water.
I'm now convinced that Kompong Phluk should be visited in two different seasons. Depending on whether or not the houses are in the water, it seems like a completely different place. However, I will probably never get there again.
Very beautiful with the waves in the foreground.
All three pictures are very attractive. I like the second in the WS very much with the many clothes and towels hanging to dry.
Best regards, Paul

ian
we can see as the modernized houses in main post are different of the very rustic and traditional ones in the last WS. curious this one tilted. I presume it is difficult to fix them when the poles are damaged.
take care
