Photographer's Note

Kids are always great subjects to shoot and fun to work with not only because they are able to give us lots of expressions on their faces but they also amazingly manage to look quite similar universally no matter what conditions! This lovely Red Dzao kid - probably ten years old now- was so absorbed looking deep into my lens when shutter was released from some distance with an aperture full open allowing me to register his facial features. Off course I love the innocence's impressive hear gear - as part of the traditional dress code, his ethnic profile, vibrant colors and his suspicious apprehension......

The afternoon was slight cloudy in a small hamlet in Tha Phin about 15km from Sa Pa, home to some colourful and flamboyant ethnic Red Dzao hill tribe. Since migrating from China in the XIX th century, the RD people have become one of the largest ethnic groups in Vietnam living across the far north in the mountains not far from the Chinese border. The colours and the people of this place are part of the unforgettable experience of visiting this cool peaceful remote place as well as being lucky to catching some memorable shots.

Hope the look in his face leads to a good life.....
