Photographer's Note

A huge metal statue of uncle Ho (Ho Chi Minh)stands along the Mekong banks in Cantho ; at the crossroads some posts carry signs and loudspeakers that broadcast the government radio channel all day long.

The same instructions are broadcasted each morning starting from 6AM : it says that the vietnamese people must work hard, care about a good hygiena and love their flag and country.

I guess the "working hard" instruction is aimed to V'mese men who are well known for wandering day long at the CaPhe while the women are taking care of everything, running the house and the business.

In the streets of Cantho you would only see ladies doing business, as these 3, dealing under the "official instructions" post and wonder where the men are (My guess is ...certainly comfortably sitting at a terrace).

Here's the sound to go with. (linked to www.quietamerican.orf, thanks to Mimi).
