Dong Van - To Vietnam’s final frontier

The landscapes in the far north of the country were often stunning but due to the cloudy sky and the foggy weather I failed to take really nice pictures.
Nevertheless, I’d like to show some of these beautiful landscapes for those who are interested.
See also the workshops.

All the pictures here are taken in the vicinity of Dong Van in the province of Ha Giang.

The title of the picture comes from the description of this province in guidebooks. It’s a much less visited part of the country. But don’t expect to be the only one in Dong Van. During the day it’s possible to visit remote areas in this large province where you won’t find that many foreign visitors but in the evening they’re all gathered together in the few eateries and cafes of Dong Van.
Dong Van has become the main place to stay for foreign visitors and there are some excellent eateries.
However, when comparing it with Sapa and other parts of the country, then the term 'last frontier' seems to be properly placed.

The extreme north of Vietnam near the Chinese border has amazing landscapes of limestone pinnacles and granite outcrops and despite the dark weather this was the highlight of my trip.
