Tay Ninh is in southwestern Vietnam, some 90km to Ho Chi Minh City (ex-Saigon). Expect some 2 hours drive from Saigon.

Tay Ninh, the holy city of the Caodaiists, harbors a colourful, Rococo-syled palace/temple. The Holy See was built between 1933 and 1955.

Cao Dai is the third biggest religion in Vietnam with three million followers, after Buddhism & Catholic Christianity. It is influenced by Christianity, Taoism and Islam. Five basic tenets of Caodaiists: ďDonít kill, donít lie, donít steal, donít drink alcohol & be a monogamistĒ.

Monotheistic Cao Daiís saints include prophets Jesus Christ & Mohammed, as well as, Victor Hugo and Louis Pasteur. Founded in 1926, Cao Daiís activities were restricted by the communist regime following the reunification of Vietnam in 1975.
