Photographer's Note

This is a picture of a Red-shanked douc langur at the Endangered Primates Rescue Center in Cuc Phuong national park in Vietnam. This center takes in injured primates, and breed endangered primate species. In this photo, it may look like the monkey is a captive, but they're only put in cages for a period of time, so that they can be checked for disease etc. After that, there are semi-wild areas where they can be. Because of all the illegal poaching that takes place in Vietnam, a lot of the primates can not be released back into the wild. So I think this picture shows that these primates are kept out of the wild for their own safety, because of the poachers. Which is just sad, really..
