Photographer's Note

Admittedly I don't know if this woman was actually praying, but what else would there be to do on a visit to a temple?

This is from the ancient Quan Thanh temple in the northern part of Hanoi, situated between the large West Lake and the smaller Truc Bach Lake. It was originally built in the 11th century but has been thoroughly restored on a number of times. Today it is one of the landmarks of the Vietnamese capital, popular among locals and tourists alike.

This photo from 1993 was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.
