Photographer's Note

This is the most common scene in Vietnam, home to plenty of street vendors and a common sight in the unmistakable conical hats, mostly women who walk around narrow streets of the city with a shoulder pole attached to two baskets, sort of mobile mini market. They sell all kinds of goods such as fruit and vegetables and other food products, flowers, costumes, plastic toys, etc.. you name it. Under the hat, you can see a hardworking face, a sweet smile or a sweating vendor etc....

I guess most of us cannot imagine how hard these women work daily to make a living and most of their typical day begin very early at daybreak which end late in the evening. But they are highly visible part that also add so much life and colours to the streetscape.

Taken taken in Hanoi Old Quarter, I would not want to miss capturing that 'moment' as the courageous woman walked the path at a constant pace depicting the sheer physical effort she must put in relentlessly each day and the enormity of the task at hand.

It's a back breaking job, a real test of strength and determination.....
