Photographer's Note

Gert complained yesterday that my yesterday's photo was with the people posing (but not for me, so stolen). So here I have chosen the typical view of Hanoi street. Vietnam is much less exotic than neighborliness countries. Maybe the most exotic view are the women in their conical hats, like here in the foreground. Earlier they used bikes, like in Gert's photo. Now they have motobikes and it is the real horror. I felt quite helpless. You can spot there small low plastic stool. they use them everywhere to sit with lunch on the street. Unlike most of the Asian countries, they use Latin script.
The Vietnamese alphabet is the modern writing system for the Vietnamese language. It uses the Latin script, with some digraphs and the addition of nine accent marks or diacritics – four of them to create additional sounds, and the other five to indicate the tone of each word. The many diacritics, often two on the same letter, make written Vietnamese easily recognizable.
