~ Fashion Catwalk ~, a photo from Lai Chau, North West

Photographer's Note

A 'fashion' show' of ethnic Red Dzao 'models' joined by the cute toddler on piggyback that caught my attention even more, walking with style on a 'catwalk' in Tha Pin hamlet, 15km north east of Sa Pa on this cool overcast afternoon.

They are probably the second largest ethnic minority group with their famous identity, the distinctive eye-catching red head-dresses. The red colour is omnipresent here and their traditional clothes are a true delight for the eyes which certainly enhances the beauty of these people with those wonderful hand sewn embroideries.

They offers such delightful sight for endless shooting opportunity.

These could be festive clothes, but reading your note it appears to be the norm there. Colourful indeed. And good angle showing the walk on these planks.

Another well captured shot and the colours are quite stunning. I like the purposeful step of the woman in front and the more careful one of the woman carrying the child.

A great photo of the two people and the young child walking along the old boardwalk. Their traditional clothing looks beautiful, the elaborate patterns are clearly visible and the red parts stand out well from the backdrop.

Hello Abmdsudi,

It is unusual to see people in traditional costumes going about their everyday work, nowadays, so this is special! The costumes make a strong visual statement and even the small child is following suit!
The figure at the front seems to be struggling, solving a mental problem, which explains her determined, upright stance.
You did well to capture them so candidly!
