Photographer's Note

CAN THO is the biggest city in the Mekong Delta. It is the delta's centre for both business and education. Some tourists visit it on their way to/from one of the floating markets in the area, most of them just spending one night there. For me, having lived there for a couple of years, this grand little town of the south still feels a bit like home away from home. For its people and its food, it is one of my favourite places in the world.

THIS PICTURE shows a side wall of the Chau Van Liem Highschool (Le Collège de Can Tho) or the Trường Trung học Phổ thông Châu Văn Liêm, as it is called in full.

Like many official buildings (especially schools) it dates from French colonial times. Lots of them have been lovingly restored and are still in use. The yellow paint is typical for this type of building. I also love those French shutters and that Vietnamese tree leaning into the frame:)

Hope you like it too.
