Photographer's Note

She's in deep concentration lit by the natural warm light under her stilted house - the one valuable element that I really loved to capture while I tried to stay true to what I saw.

Taken in Katambong Chau Phong village in Ang Giang province on the Mekong Delta, which is well known for its traditional weaving by Cham women- a tradition passed down from mother to daughter. There are some 13,000 Cham community who live side by side with other majority ethnic groups such as the Krom Khmer, Chinese and Vietnamese.

The Cham who are mostly farmers and small traders, live in wooden stilted houses on the bank of Hau river - a tributary of the Mekong River, and across on Chau Giang islets not far from town. Most of the women folks are actively engaged in pottery making and weaving.
