Photographer's Note

Another sunset picture fro the end of the year. Most people go to see the sunset from the Kuhna Ark (in the western part of the old city, directly across Orient Star Khiva Hotel). Khivan rulers commanded from this fortress-residence from as early as the 12th century up to the 17th century when the khans expanded the structure to include a mosque, a harem, and a jail.
Here the view of the main street, with the Kalta Minor - This squat minaret is an iconic symbol of Khiva, mainly because of it's exquisite blue and green tile work and the fact that it remains unfinished. The sunset sky is behind one of the four city gates.

Amusing view also in Workshop.
