Photographer's Note
Ian showed a photo from Bukhara with the stork. It reminded me about the fake storks I saw there. And when he has posted today the photo of Chor Minor, I have checked my photos.
Storks were once a common sight in Bukhara, and now on a visit to this atmospheric Silk Road city, a nesting couple could be spotted on top of a turquoise dome. But on closer inspection, this pair of long-legged waders turned out to be mere plastic imitations.
Uzbekistan has been investing heavily in redeveloping cities like Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva as it reimagines its mythical past with an eye to what it thinks tourists want to see, fake storks and all. But these redevelopments run the risk of erasing the character of these evocative cities.
Strange that it is my fifth (main) photo from Bukhara (only!)

Hi Malgo,
The trees are framing well the Mosque. The presence of the persons is animating the scene. The point of view is showing a double perspective of the architecture of the Chor Minor Mosque. The quality of the light beautifies the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
I was surprised to find this building once again today. I am also surprised you didn't post this years ago. It's really a very good photo, taken from an angle that clearly shows us the façade and the four towers, as well as a decent number of persons who provide life and colours. (Some traditionally dressed locals would have been nice but would probably have been just as fake as the fake storks.) So as long as some of the tourists are dressed in red or pink I'm happy. You had the same wonderful light as Ian.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Malgo,
I can't find the storks on Ian's pictures. His photos were taken about one year before you went to Bukhara. So the storks were added afterwards.
Perhaps in the future, someone who goes to Bukhara can find storks on more than one minaret of the Chor Minor...
This is for sure a fantastic monument and you presented it from a good angle and with a wonderful sky in the background.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgo,
The story about fake storks, why do this people, and on this tower?
For to get more tourists, a bad argument, but this is not important, your both pictures are superb.
Lovely composition nice sharpness and best colours.
Very well done, TFS.

Ciao Malgo, well, after 3 and a half years from my trip to this city, I realized now that the storks were made of plastic .. ahaha .. I went to review my photos and even found a zoomed-in of a nest like this but above another mosque, the oldest one. A very useful post therefore, but I approve the redevelopment project that is saving many battered buildings. Congratulations for the photos and good evening.Luciano

Hello Malgo
The size of this mosque? is not so impressive according to the scale provided by these people, but is quite beautiful and looks great under such a sky.

Hi Malgo
It sounds like you'll have to check your Bukhara photos for more postings to follow up these 2.
That stork nest must have been added just after I was their - someone having a bit of a joke but then it is the sort of spot that they like to make nests.
cheers

Hello Malgo, I was rather surprised to read about the fake storks! But there again, a nice reminder of the past.
A lovely colourful scene, the turquoise coloured domes are very special.
The people give us a good idea of the scale.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Malgo,
This is a unique building, I like the angle that shows us all four towers. Now are they towers or minaret, that is, is it a mosque?

MT

Hi Malgorzata
A well chosen POV featuring this beautiful monuments with the catchy protruding domes plus the fake storks. You have done admirably to bring out the fine details of the structures, standing proudly against the clear blue sky.
Best regards

Hello Malgo,
The sunshine really accentuates the lovely details of this structure, and I especially like the towers with colorful tops. It's strange to see fake birds perched on top. I like the bits of color added by the visitors' clothing. I hope the new year has gotten off to a good start for you. Let's hope for better days ahead!

No real storks on the scene, Malgo, but a wonderful picture of the mosquae with four identical turquoise minarets.
Good scale with people at the gate, fine clarity under brightb daylight.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike
