Photographer's Note
The main bazaar of Samarkand located opposite the Bibi Khanum mosque. Bazaars are the centre of life in Uzbekistan. This is where anyone would go to buy anything - from bread (on the picture) to shoes and toilet paper. Most of the stuff on sale is either locally produced (food) or smuggled (clothes and footwear).
Samarkand bread is VERY tasty. One full round of bread costs under 25 cents.

An interesting scene of Uzbek life. I remember this market well and your photo brings back good memories of the city. I can feel the activity around me. I think the composition could be improved a little (for example I'm not keen on the head in the lower foreground) but I fully appreciate that in situations like this it's very difficult to get exactly what you want.

I like this shot because it is so full of life. And at the same time, it looks almost like a painting, probably because of the wonderful colors and the patterns on peoples' clothes. I agree with Jonathan's point about the face in the front, but it also creates some extra motion in your image - everything seems to move around the woman in the red dress, her face is the resting point.
Thanks a lot for showing this one!

Wonderful picture, a candidate for a painting. Very vivid atmosphere. Nice colours Olga. Thanks.

very nice street shot... the DOF is handled very well and I do like the contrasts here.
Lots of interesting activity presented.
Good stuff... as always from you.

I like the detached or distant look of the woman in the centre. This is what makes this image and with the guy on the right cropped out and perhaps more bokeh in the background, this would be stunning.

Such a huge variety covered here of men, women and children and their attitudes, dressings, food, tools, language etc. I was first wishing that the capture was less shaky, but then again the way it is with slight motion blur makes an impression that to a motion picture (film). Thanks for sharing.

Hi Olga,
I like this picture because it's so full of life.. Also full everywhere. The only thing I would suggest is the fact that most of the close-up figures are one part of the picture, I wonder if there was a way to distribute them.. Fine shot anyway.. Izzet
