Photographer's Note

The Kayan are a sub-group of the Karen who wear big earings and also leg rings similar to the Kayah (long-necks). here seen at one of the villages set up especially for tourists near Chiangmai. They also come from Burma and like to wear the Thanaka paste upon their faces, but usually in spots as decoration rather than all over the face as the Burmese do.
