Photographer's Note

Monks listen to their elders during the annual gathering of over 1000 monks, held each December.

They come from all over the region by bus and foot, to receive alms from the large crowd of local Buddhists who will give their offerings.

The silver objects in the composition that appear to be balls are actually silver bowls that the monks receive their alms in.

There are sorts of people crawling all around with cameras, stepping/walking in front of you and so on. This ceremony is over by 8:00 am.

Tech notes: Uncropped.
