Photographer's Note
The Elephant Nature Park north of Chiang Mai provides a unique and moving opportunity to interact with elephants who have been rescued from a life of abuse in logging camps, circuses, or street begging. Some have been maimed by land mines. Some were intentionally blinded to better control them.
Each elephant has its own keeper/care-giver attending to its specific needs. Volunteers PAY to work there and the many visitors to the facility help to cover the expenses of procuring, feeding, and medically caring for the elephants.
