Photographer's Note

...and now for something totally different, as John Cleese or Eric Idle would say ;) ...

Lotus flowers. I love lotus flowers.

This is taken at the Doi Suthep temple of Chiang Mai, a bustling temple... not very interesting because of the herds of people there, a mix of leisure and religious tourists, but colorful and covered with gold leaves.

As you know gold is the enemy #1 of the photographer, like diamonds, not because we are no sissies like Marylin but because of its highly glaring reflections which are deadly for any slide or digital sensor.

Perhaps you also know that it's a photographer mind boggle to shoot commercials for jewels and that in many cases the jewels that are pictured are fake copper imitations, because copper reflects less light than gold.

So rather than trying to tame the untamable I chose to let that gold glare in the sunlight and melt the highlights into bokeh, which is the friend of photographer. Remember : gold is bad and bokeh is your friend. Never buy your girlfriend gold or diamonds, rather give her bokeh...(and then tell me how it works).

So this is a photo about lotus flowers.

I'm working on a pretty bad monitor which is getting even worse from day to day : it gets darker and darker. I really have to change it or go towards Mac. I then tried to compensate by guestimating the brightness level. perhaps this is too dark or too bright, I don't have any means to say.
