Photographer's Note
This was my first posting on Trekearth.
It is an image that is etched in my memories with mood of whatching these children play in thier river.
The slide copy gave it a green color cast so I have taken the slide copy and changed the cast thru variations under adjustments in photoshop to try and bring it back to a near original. then made standard contrast, levels saturation adjustments.
I then experimented with a process called digital lith printing using; losing colour and adding color in duatone mode.
First slide copy with Canon G2/ xtend-a-lens and Hoya closeup lenses. I have lots to learn but what fun to be able to digitize slides of long ago. Zooming into found memories. Hauled out the Nikon bellows just for the fun of it and an atlas for inspiration. If anyone has info to add to my learning curve, much appreciated.

Big improvement technically over your original.
The lush jungle surrounding the people on their boat stirs the same sort of emotion one would get from reading 'Heart of Darkness' albeit less sinister of course. I like the vantage point taken through the grass; adds to the layered effect of grass, water, people, opposite bank and jungle expanse.
If anything the sharpening performed here is either too weak or too thick. If you're using Photoshop and Unsharp Masking then try a radius of 0.2 and a high amount like 400-500 to get very fine sharpening that'll make the details pop out subtlely.

I like the work you did here to enhance your original photo. It's definitely an interesting scene, and perspective, since you included so much greenery in the foreground. I thought of "heart of darkness" too - something about the coloring you chose I think. :o) Good work.

"Zooming into found memories." What a delightful phrase Jean, so beautifully descriptive of our relationship with images from our past. Sadly, I let go of all my old slides from travels afar, so I rely on images posted on TE by others as reminders of places that have touched me.
You post processing work is very fine, the final version from a different universe than the original. I can't quite discern whether the sharp white on leaves and grasses is an artifact of sharpening or simply reflected sunlight. I tried Michael King's sharpening protocol and it is surely interesting. I'd be interested to see the result if applied with your original image at an earlier stage of processing. But the image is a fine one for me. I would have loved a bit more in your note about the circumstances surrounding what you captured.
