Photographer's Note

At the stupa of Nakhon Pathom monks are everywhere, it's actually a great place for a photographer wanting to capture their daily activities...but that was my first trip with a "serious" camera, I was too conscious of it in my hands, the way it made me look like an intruder...that was the first time I took a photo of a person at an intimate moment, which praying I think is...I still can't shake off a feeling that we invade someone's privacy while taking such photos, that is why I do it so rarely, though I did ask for permission of course. But trying to do "the least harm possible" I might have left something out of the photo...the quality is poor too because of the scan, still I've decided to share it hoping perhaps for some suggestions for improvement...

Hello Aleksandra, I like your picture. Don't worry about the loss of quality while scanning the photo. The saffron-colour gives an interesting contrast to the white of the pillars. I will add it to my favourites.

a very well composed image.. a nice pose too.
I like it very much. the verticcal format gives a lot of strenght to this shot.
colors are also excellent.

Witaj Ola, to swietne zdjecie, powiem od razu. Widzê ¿e Twoje fotografie zawieraj± pewnieñ pierwiastek / przynajmniej ja to tak odbieram / mistycyzmu, posiadaj± dozê tajemniczo¶ci a jednocze¶cie wskazuja na osamotnienie cz³owieka. Byæ mo¿e mylê sie w swojej ocenie, ale taki jest mój odbiór. To niebanalne fotografie, sa m±dre i piekne. Traktuj± o rzeczach ponadczasowych. Gratuluje i pozdrawiam Artur

Very classic shot, Aleksandra, but this type of image always conveys the atmosphere around temples very beautifully. Your shot does not look intrusive at all, and you are to be commended for spotting a quiet moment in an usually very busy place, being one of the most revered and ancient depositary of Theravada Buddhism in Thailand.

Hi Alexsandra,This is a lovely image you have captured a magic moment here,your notes are interesting as i feel the same way,perhaps this is why i generally stick to landscapes,but i do like this kind of photography.Well done.

Very well seen, excellent point of view and color contrast. The image has some technical flaws, likely resulted from scanning and post-processing (such as jpeg artifacts around the face). An outstanding image I would guess, in original.

u can scan it better later,don't worry about that;actually I have the same problem .but u captured that moment very well,the placement of the prayer is wonderful.the shot is better like this vertical format,and the colors are superb like all the other Thai pics.it is an imaginary country for the photographers,I have to go there too:-)

You underestimate yourself. You are really a quite lovely photographer, a natural with a fine compositional eye. As far as feeling like an intruder...this is obviously quite a common feeling. To get past it I do what Salgado does--make up my mind before engaging a project, that I am there not to exploit but to enrich. This goes a long way towards killing any guilt in its crib, and eliminating hesitation.

Bardzo piękna kompozycja i piekne zdjęcie. Super wyszły kolory, ten pomarańcz na białym tle wygląda rewelacyjnie. Niestety kiepska jest jego jakość, zierno widać gołym okiem, ale może to wina postprocessingu.

Dosc czesto zamieszczasz w swoich wspanialych notkach przeprosiny za niedoskonalosc techniczna.
Zdjecia twoje krzycza glosem wielkim o swiecie ktory widzialas. Ich kompozycja, ich punkt widzenia i ta niesamowita przejrzystosc tematu jaki nam przekazuja - sa znakami tego jakim wspanialym dziennikarskim sercem jestes obdarzona. I nagle...te przeprosiny.
Na Bog mily - gdybys tego nie napisala, oczy moje zafascynowane tym co widza - nawet by tego nie zauwazyly. Tym bardziej ze ja WIEM ze jestes doskonalym technikiem - jezeli chcesz byc doskonalym technikiem.
Zaczynam miec troche fijola na punkcie twoich zdjec, ale po prostu widze tyle serca i twojej emocji w nich, ze trudno pozostac obojetnym.
Zycze ci pogodnych Swiat.
Nie pozwol zgasnac temu ognikowi sercowemu. I emocjom.

Swietna perspektywa, bardzo ciekawy punkt widzenia. Bradzo udane zdjecie, jak i inne tez.
