Photographer's Note

As I mentioned in a previous upload, during my last visit to Thailand, the country was busily getting ready for the 60th anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej taking the throne as king. Also, as I had previously mentioned it seems that many Thai men took this as the proper occasion to become monks; something all Buddhist men are expected to do at some point in their lives. These three had just been ordained/sworn in/baptized by a senior monk and were now giving prayer for their first time as monks.

I am always a sucker for monks and directional lighting; this has both.

This was taken at Wat Bowonniwet, which is a lesser known and frequented temple in Bangkok, yet it is only a few short minutes from Thanon Khao Sahn. Everyone goes the other direction towards Wat Pho and Wat Phrae Kaeow. I have had great luck at this temple though; previously I was welcomed in to an early morning wedding ceremony, which was extremely touching.

I see on my EXIF that this was taken with my 70-200. I just have not used that lens much at all as of late.
