Photographer's Note
The ancient tradition of Buddhist monks proceeding into a temple contrasts with modern Japanese vehicles & a tv crew parked in the forecourt. The purple car on the left has caught the reflections of the monks' orange robes. The Thai script on the left also adds context, imho. Taken in Chinatown, Bangkok. (Yao-rawat)

Classic TE shot, and nicely arranged elements. I can't see the point of leaving in the cars and people on the left though. I think have cropped the left up to the hanging.

Hi Chris, I did not remember having seen a Chinatown in BKK, but I did not stay there very long... what I like here is the contrast set by the two exotic (for my taste) alphabets of two great asian civilization, and even ours borrowed by the Japanese ! In addition to that, lights and monks bring brightly color touchs. Like Richard, I would love to get rid of cars & guys on the left, but that would remove the Thai dimension too, so not a good idea...

Perfect capture of the daily/traditional life here Chris. That's why no cropping required in my opinion. Very sharp and colorful picture. As far as I see here, you are about to become a TV star..:)))
Good work and thanks for sharing...

I like this situation,a real contrast between tradition and modernization, very well showed, and I like the man with camera, too:),also the red box of Coca-cola in left in front of the car:)it's a great harmony with symbolic reds in tops, myebe,it could be a sad humor!
colors are excellent here,a unique atmosphere with this contrast you captured, and nicely composed as well in your all works,I like it very much, full of notes and details,Thanks Chris.
PS:today,an hour ago,I noticed that the quantity of my useful critiques & WS have reduced, more than 60 critiques and 3WS,...you know why?!what's about you?!

Hi Chris, I can see a black man if monk, the decorations and festoons its splendid of colours, the Monks together with the TV crew make the picture completely. Good seen Chris.

Yes the contrast displayed in this photo is really suprising. I think the temple for itself adds up to this effect because it seems to me like a mixture of older and newer parts. Well composed with the monks leading us into the photo.

A surprising and almost offbeat blend of old and modern elements in this shot, Chris. The red lamps and the monks in their orange gowns make for good repetitive elements. I'm not too crazy about the cars on the left but obviously there was hardly a way to avoid them, and I understand you also wanted to keep the TV crew in the frame. Interesting shot.

A very interesting photo, full with details. His reminds me the "find the..." game drawings. I agree with Richard, it's a classic TE shot, and it is well composed and captured.

I agree with Richard here...then the focal points would just be the minks. Nonetheless, you have good colors and sharpness here.

I like this kind of picture that depicts a slice of the local culture. The red lanters and orange robes are popping with colour. I just have a bit of problem with the composition. It's quite chaotic with the scaffolding and truck on the right, and the photographer in the parking lot on the left. Here is a case where some judicious cropping would make more impact imo. The "less is more" theory.

Chris,
You're so well travelled, you probably know a little bit of all the languages. Good image showing the combination of the Thai and Chinese culture intermix, which I'm very familiar with, since my father is Chinese, living in Laos, we have both cultural understanding and mixing it up. not the best techincal quality but nice shot depicting an event. Would have been nice to see the top of the temple as well. Thanks Chris.
