Photographer's Note

Lotte Hotel Jeju is the largest resort hotel in Korea. From the hotel room, you can enjoy the beautiful Jeju scenery overlooking the Pacific and the romantic atmosphere of a windmill on a seaside cliff. This photo was taken from the balcony of the hotel room on Xmas Day. There was an ice-skating competition and the whole place was surrounded by songs of celebration.

Jeju Island, also known as the "Island of the Gods" is located southwest of Korea. The island is known for its volcanic rocks, Halla-san South Korea's highest peak, catching sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, viewing majestic waterfalls, riding horses, or just lying around on the sandy beaches. We were told that traditionally, the man on Jeju island are known as "Wang Ba Di" i.e. they do not work and spend their time leisurely. The women on the otherhand does the work and bring home food and money. Jeju Women Divers are one of Jeju's most celebrated phenomena. Reaching depths of up to 20m for 2 min at a time without the use of any breathing aparatus, they harvest abalone, octopus and other seafood.
