Photographer's Note
The 'Elbow Crab' is a common crab, but is rarely seen as they are well camouflaged by their spines and tubercles.
They feed on worms, soft corals, small snails, sea urchins and clams in sandy, muddy and rocky bottoms of intertidal waters.
As seen in this workshop, the Elbow Crab has quite large front claws which are folded up under him as you can see in this shot.
I Hope you like it,
- Dan

Hi Dan,
I'm sorry, but I am unable to cope with this ugly looking fellow before my morning coffee...(LOL) Actually, this is an unusual but superb macro shot, and the WS really demonstrates your point about the elbows. The clarity of detail is great. I just noticed you are using the 5D and am wondering how you are finding it? Great imagery, Dan.

That's a pretty intimidating creature - I hope I never run into one of these guys! I guess you shot this in an aquarium, if so it's great quality. The shot is so detailed and lifelike. Well done!
