Photographer's Note

The busy train station in Novosibirsk with many people travelling from the West to the East and vice versa... It was very interesting to see these many trains and the travellers, some really tired and exhausted, some still at the beginning of their trip being all excited. The waiting hall inside the station was a large marble hall with massive chandeliers (and the inevitable TV on the wall) which was very impressive. Unfortunately it was forbidden to take pictures but I tried to take one or two until a guardsman told me: "Nravitsa fotografirovat!". We found out that there were in fact two different waiting areas, one for the travellers with "regular" tickets (platzkart) and one for the travellers with first and second class tickets. Unfortunately the toilets in the first and second class waiting area were just as bad as the toilets downstairs...
