Photographer's Note

This St. Nikolay’s Cathedral is located in Prokhladniy (meaning "Cool" or "Chilly"), Kabardino-Balkariya. This town was the starting point of the second travel from my four long travels in the summer of 2010. It is situated at the north-east corner of the republic, where the Kabarday (they compose 55.3 % of the total republic’s population), the Russians (25.1 %) and the Ossetians (1.1 %) principally live. The Balkars (11.6 %) chiefly inhabit the mountainous parts of Kabardino-Balkaria and its capital Nalchik. In Prokhladniy, a former Cossacks stanitsa, mainly the Russians live.
