Photographer's Note

The Park Monrepos ("My Rest" - French) is a national museum. It is situated near the town of Vyborg on the coast of Vyborgskiy Gulf and covers the area of 163 ha. The historical core of national park is the romantic rocky landscape park, which is a masterpiece of the park and gardening arts, and the wooden estate complex (end of XVIII-middle of XIX centuries).

During about two centuries (1788 - 1943), Park Monrepos belonged to the family of Barons Nicolai, whose progenies contributed the glory of Russian State.

The historical part of the park is naturally followed by a forest park tract which is a unique natural complex.

Natural preserve lies in a particular geographical zone, unique Ice Age stone ridges up to 20 m high in it, and is able to boast of 48 species of plants including very rare and rich wildlife.
