Photographer's Note

Hermitage main entrance gates were for a long time wooden, but in a year 1885 it was replaced by the metal gates, design by architect Nikolay Gornostayev, made on the SPb ironworks factory San-Gali. On each side of the gates placed monogram of emperor Alexander III and empress Maria.
On the photo is innern part of the gateway, leading to the main court of the Winter Palace.
