RESTING IN A BIG STYLE, a photo from Saint Petersburg, Northwest

Photographer's Note

This is one of the rooms of the Moika Palace, here the princess could to rest with her friends, but this bed wasn't use to sleep. The sculpture with the baby girl above the pillow calls our attention. Other curious detail is the fireplace made with special pieces of marble imitating a shelf.
The image isn't so sharp as I would like.

Essa é uma das salas do Palácio Moika, aqui a princesa poderia descansar na companhia de suas amigas, mas essa cama não era usada para dormir. A escultura com a bebezinha sobre a almofada chama logo a atenção. Outro ponto de atração na sala é a lareira feita de mármores preciosos e no formato que imita uma pequena estante.
A foto não está tão nítida quanto eu gostaria.

Hello Jorge,

The photograph reveals the sumptuous features in the room of a Russian princess!
So, this is where she would come to rest or maybe share private moments with her friends, though it does look very formal, not the close cosiness that we would expect nowadays!

Beds with those drapes always make me wonder about all the dust that would collect in them but I suppose that they had lots of servants to shake them. A good photo of the grand bedroom.

Adequate sharpness and the crawling baby statue atop a pedestal is highly unusual. Good colour and well framed and composed. Nice warm cold colour contrasts too. Tfs!

I've enjoyed this series. Makes me want to travel here too.
its always so fun to see how these rich people lived so many years ago, compared to the common people I'm sure they lived a life of luxury. so interesting to examine all the finer details, and ya it may not be totally sharp, but that's ok

Hi Jorge,
I missed the end part of your reportage.
There are certainly a lot of splendid interiors to enjoy in St Petersburg. Recently they introduced some changes and some regions of Russia like St Petersburg does not require visa from tourists from certain countries which was very attractive to me. However there are not good connections from where I live and now of course no travel is possible at all.
Very well recorded interior.
