Photographer's Note

Piotr and Jorge have shown already The Anichkov bridge, but This was my favourite place in St Petersburg, si here my three photos of it, taken from the boat.

The Anichkov Bridge is the oldest and most famous bridge across the Fontanka River in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The current bridge, built in 1841-42 and reconstructed in 1906-08, combines a simple form with some spectacular decorations. As well as its four famous horse sculptures (1849–50), the bridge has some of the most celebrated ornate iron railings in Saint Petersburg. The structure is mentioned in the works of Pushkin, Gogol, and Dostoevsky.

Behind it, in the corner, there is Beloselsky-Belozersky palace. In XIX century, Upon the reconstruction and opening of their famous palace to the public, the Beloselsky Belozersky Palace gained a reputation as being one of the most lavish palaces in Russia and also as being the venue of the most lavish balls and concerts in St. Petersburg. Elena Pavlovna, the owner, also gained the reputation as the best hostess in St Petersburg.
