Photographer's Note

When I was at Surb Khach Armenian monastery in Ukrainian town of Staryi Krym, I had no idea that in 9 days I would be at an Armenian monastery with the same name Surb Khach (Holly Cross), but in Russian city of Rostov, across the Sea of Azov. This happened because in the end of 18th century the monastery, as well as most of Armenian people having lived in Crimea, was moved to the Don River land, in particular in the new town of Nor Nakhichevan (now a part of Rostov-on-Don). The new monastery can be found in the Northern residential area of the city (Bagramyan’s street, 1).
