Photographer's Note

These are elite houses in Lenin Hills microdistrict of Moscow viewed from Victory Park.

Lenin Hills are part of Ramenki District in the south-west of Moscow. It hosts the main building of Moscow State University and some of its other buildings and territories including the Botany Garden.

The area used to be called Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills) but was renamed in 1924 after Lenin’s death. In 1959 they built a metro station over the Moskva-river (the only metro station on a bridge in the world so far) and it was named Lenin Hills station. In 1999 the station was renamed as Vorobyovy Gory after the old name of the microdistrict. However the microdistrict itself is still officially called Lenin Hills. E.g. Moscow State University main builiding official address is 119991, Moskva, Leninskiye Gory, MGU, dom 1 (i.e. Moscow, Lenin Hills, MSU, House 1).
