Photographer's Note

This building (Lubyanka Building) was created in 1898 to be the home of an insurance company, it was a very beautiful building with many adornments. After Communist revolution the building was used by the secret police, but during the Stalin government he did so many prosecutions that the building became so small and they were obligated to rebuilt it, after that they put an extra floor and expanded the laterals and that beautiful building became an ugly box.
There was a joke in those days saying it was the highest building of the country because staying in its basement you would be able to see Siberia prison camps.
In this building KGB tortured, killed, interrogated, judged, keep caught and decided the life of any people who was charged of acting against the government, even imaginary enemies. In the gardens in front there is a stone that came from a prison camp of White Sea, paying homage to those who were sent from here to there to work and die.
My hotel was few meters far from this place, curiously the largest shop of toys of the world is few meters ahead.

Meu hotel ficava a poucos metros desse prédio e curiosamente, a maior loja de brinquedos do mundo fica poucos metros adiante.
