Photographer's Note
“Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn my back and slam the door
And here I stand, and here I’l stay
Let it go, let it go
The cold never bothered me anyway”....(from the movie Frozen)
This lyrics kinda fits me...because I dunno how to try hard, I just simply walked away..but it was not an easy way..
Photo taken at Intramuros, the Walled City of Manila
P.S.
I actually had second thoughts of posting this one...because I don’t feel comfortable that my subject was right there at the center, albeit at the bottom (which I know would earn a negative comment from Will (Perrett) in case he see this post for he actually mentored me already on this aspect...However, I also want to know other TE members views on this.

Hi Mics
yes, Will probably will make a comment or two about this one :)
But its all about learning right!?
To answer your question straight out...yes...it would have been best composition wise to place the lady near the 1/3 area on either side of the frame.
BUT, if you look at your lighting, its rather dark at those areas - yet its brighter in the middle portions.
So you have to go with what you have available to you.
its a hard scene to capture anyways, just from the dark lighting situation alone. If this was a daytime photo i'd be much more inclined to place the subject at that 1/3 spot.
thanks for this one :)
cheers

Hi Mics
I really like the atmospher of this picture, you'taken it just when you saw the scene hand held with a very long exposure, and the shot is not blurred.
Now coming to its composition: your shot is mainly square, I suppose you cropped it from a rectangular origibal picture. To avoid to have the main subjct almost centered, I propose you to remove the left part in my WS.
Don't be afraid to post pictures which will get some WS to try to enhance it, it's one of the best tool of TE!
Cheers

Hi Michelle,
Rule are made to be broken, so as you title said, "Let it Go" I think the person in the center works fine. What is really powerful here is the night mood and the lone person give it that solemn and melancholic atmosphere. The black and white is also a good choice to present it.

Hello Michelle
No, I'm entirely at ease that the solitary figure should be towards the bottom of the frame! The figure and the light together are not far from the classic thirds postion: not that such hoary old "rules" need be followed slavishly. This is an atmospheric and slightly mysterious scene, very low-key and effective.

Dear Mics
This is an excellent photo, despite your misgivings about the subject being too centred. I like the play of light and shade, which has created a superb atmosphere, one of mystery and a bit of menace. I think to avoid your worry of the centred subject, you could have cropped the photo, perhaps using a vertical frame. I like Clodo's Workshop.
Warmest wishes
