December Sunset, a photo from Manila, NCR

Photographer's Note

Sunset at Manila Bay is always special during December and January when the Sun sets at its most enormous 'size'. Rode my way through the heavy traffic to Manila from Quezon City for one and half hour to get some shots of sunsets, I realized later that this is the first time I went to the bay just for this purpose and feels very peculiar. Left Quezon City at 3PM and hoping to get enough time to setup while still thinking where to get a good spot. South Pier first then North Pier, photography not allowed...then decided the Manila Yacht Club and was able to get the security staff's permission, ten minutes only...finished after 45 minutes...they didn't try to stop me from taking so long...packed my stuff then thanked them with a tip thinking that I would come back one of these days to get more shots at a relaxed manner...two and a half hour driving back home...

Very peaceful and nice scenery of the bay with all the boats and reflection on the water showing the tall masts.

Good soft color tone of light to show the mood of the sunset. Perhaps I would think the exposure may be toned down 1/3 stop but this is still good without overexposure.

cool pastel colors. looks like a painting ng isang pinoy na painter named Pulido. manila sunset has always been a relaxing scene and going there to witness a sunset is always fulfilling as this capture attests. i like especially your composition and above all the reflections of the boats' masts are eye-catching. Manigong Bagong Taon sa Iyo!

nice reflected movement in this
and composition is good
my suggestion would be to use a ND grad to hold detail in the sky as it does look burnt out
but looks you timed the shot just right for the sun
