Photographer's Note

This was taken in Malate in one of my favorite traffic circle/parks. This is very close to where I usually stay while in Manila. I had previously met this boy, his mother and another brother and on my last visit, they were there again. This guy has to be one of the happiest kids I have ever come across. The grin you see on his face is his constant look. The family is not wealthy, although not homeless (I have their address so I could send them photos), I am assuming part of the reason he is always naked is that clothes for everyday life are a somewhat unneeded expense. Anyways, it doesn't dampen his spirits at all (nor his mother's really). So many Filipinos are like this I find, just the friendliest people.

This is uncropped, although when shooting, I was somewhat careful in how I composed, for obvious reasons. ISO 200, 88mm focal length, handheld, normal post processing.

For many, the flare in the background might be a distraction, but I don't mind it at all, and I do find it very interesting how exactly you can see the shape of my aperture blades in this shot, I have never seen a sharper example.
