Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I am continuing with my journey in Pakistan.
After Karachi, we flew to Lahore and from there, took a journey to a small, rural village.
I remember seeing water buffalo in the fields, wallowing in huge, waterlogged areas.
The people in this small village were definitely not used to seeing westerners. The village elders proudly asked us to sign their special book as evidence that we had been there.
They were aware that we were going to visit and had saved up for bottles of coca cola, as they knew we would be unable to drink their water. The one I was given was opened by a kind man, who hammered an old screwdriver through the top and thrust a straw through. I knew it wasn't healthy but ... what could I do, they had made such a special effort for us! Consequently, I began to feel ill before we had even returned to the hotel!!
I will concentrate on the children who are so unreserved and natural. This youngster had been left behind by the majority of the children racing to see us but ... what a sweetie! I know it's not ultra sharp and there were some white, vertical lines on the photograph, no idea why, but this little girl was so delightful, I had to post her!
I will add a couple more photographs in the w/s which I hope you will find interesting.
Please remember, these were pre-digital and have been rephotographed from existing photographs.
Thank you for your continued interest, I hope I am not boring you, Bev :-)

Hi Bev,a beautiful day visiting this rural village, unfortunately you have had some intestinal consequences but it is the price that I too have often paid. The three photos are very beautiful, the little girl is already dressed like an adult woman, and then the group of onlookers from above is fantastic, the other photo is interesting, friends but not too much, if it had been a tourist post, surely it would have gone otherwise with great requests for sweets, pens and ... money. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
Age and technique is more visible here, but it's still a very charming photo and a treasure worth posting. I have a strong feeling her parents had made sure to put on her best clothes for this important day. I wouldn't like to go barefoot here, but she had probably done it from the day she learned to walk. I wonder if she remember this. Did you send any copies of your photos to the villagers?
Have a nice weekend,
Gert
PS I forgot to look at the WS, or you hadn't uploaded them before. They are both very interesting and colourful and could have been worth being main photos, unless you have so many more that are even better.

Hi Bev,
You have captured well the smiling expression of the child. The point of view is showing the details of her clothing. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

Hi Beverley,
the photo is really beautiful here, with a child with a very curious clothes. However the quality was horrible. Instead of the photo on print, didn't you try to scan? The result is usually much better, and with some PP treatment the quality is even acceptable. IŽd like of workshoip images too, and the quality is better in WS.
Great job, my friend.
Regards,
Lucas

Hi Bev,
I might have cropped about 2/3 of the fg which doesn't add a lot to the shot. The bg, however, is essential for place and context. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
Even though the view is not sharp, it is still very charming. this slice of daily life in the village is lovely, with the child in colorful clothes, the modest home in the background, and even the laundry hanging on the line. Take care!

Hello Beverley,
Three very charming pictures showing us the inhabitants of the village that did not often see foreigners. Their reactions were not the same for everyone.
Difficult choice for the main photo. I like them all three.
It's incomprehensible that the smiling little one here had no injuries on her feet. Her feet must be hardened from childhood.
The colourful clothing can be found in all these photos.
I find the pic where the children are gathered on the roof particularly attractive.
In a way, your story and these images remind me a bit of my journey to Yemen a long time ago.
You've also experienced the dilemma when very hospitable people offer you something to eat or to drink and you know it isn't too good for your gut. I hope you didn't stay ill for long. I've heard similar stories from just about everyone who has ever been in Pakistan. I remember a Belgian couple I met in India after travelling through Pakistan. They were so pleased to have finally arrived in a much more hygienic country :)
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev
great story to go along with this photo, its these experiences that you'll never forget. interesting to read about the Coke bottle, then you feeling sick after..yikes...but you're right, the polite and right thing to do is to drink it. as Gert said, I doubt this is the everyday clothing for this girl, and walking barefoot is telling enough about the conditions. I hope this girl is all grown up now, and probably has children of her own. wonderful collection of photos, all should be Main posts
cheers
