Photographer's Note

This shot was taken in the early morning from the fantastic Snow Lake in the Karakoram range, Pakistan.

Snow Lake is the name given by the english explorer Conway to this incredible place made of 2 flat glaciers : the Lupke Lawo (comes from the right of the picture) and the Sim Gang (behind the photographer).

Our camp was very well placed : in front of the Solu Towers and just in the middle of where the Lupke Lawo and the Sim Gang meet to create the Biafo glacier (60 km...) that begins at the left of the picture. We were coming from the Sim Gang glacier and few hours after this shot we begun our 4 days long descent of the Biafo glacier.

Even if this place is not as famous as the not very far Baltoro (K2, Trango towers, Broad Peak,....) it is really special....our guide used to say that it is the most fantastic high mountain landscape in the world...

Hope you like it,
