Photographer's Note

A closer look at a pony train on a Himalayan trail.

The trekker in the middle of the shot demonstrates the best way to deal with an oncoming pony or yak train. Command the inside! Find a wider spot and plant yourself against the mountain.

At least three versions possible with this one as you folks have pointed out. Cloning out the trekker makes the shot more timeless, cropping out the first (partial) mule makes for a cleaner shot of the oncoming train. But I chose to leave in the first mule because it put me (the photographer) into the frame with part of the subject matter having already passed me by.

This, to me, is just some of the fun that digital (be it digital or scanned film) has brought us. We've moved past the helpless state of handing our undeveloped film across the camera and passively waiting to see what the machine makes of it.
