Photographer's Note
A barefooted porter takes a rest from his heavy load.
At the time this photo was taken in 2004 tourist numbers to Nepal were at a low point as many potential travellers listened to their government warnings about the Maoist insurgency and stayed away in droves. More recently, and with elections on April 10, travellers are returning as Nepal is seen as a more stable country.
Tourism is the number one industry in Nepal and hopefully the life of this hard-working man and all other Sherpa porters will improve.

Hey,
Nice portrait of the porter, framing him well. Your additional blurring around the man makes him stand out well and brings attention to him.
Good job!!

Hi Marlene,
Very good portrait. I like, that you were concentrated not only at his face, but also hands, feet and general appearance.
You were lucky to be in v.interesting place as Nepal is.
Fantastic!
