Photographer's Note

I spent 4 nights in the Pokhara Valley and this image was taken on my first evening there. As I stood by the lake, taking photos, an elderly local man stopped by to exchange the usual greetings ("How are you Madam, and where are you from..." etc.) and towards the end of the conversation, as the sun was going down behind the mountains on the opposite bank, he simply asked: "Beautiful Nepal?" And when I nodded my head he added: "Too beautiful..."

These boats are used for fishing and as transport for locals and tourists alike. I'll upload more photos of them, in full colour, later.

Two more images in WS, including another sunset shot of a boat on the Phewa but with more of a sense of scale.

Pokhara Valley did not suffer during the 2015 earthquake in the way Kathmandu Valley did and I've been told it has not changed much since my visit in 2014. The lake, the boats and the iconic views of the Annapurna massif are still there, waiting for tourists to return.
