Photographer's Note

The night before, I was too slow to catch some incredible alpenglow on Everest, in the distance, so this morning I literally ran up the nearest hill as I saw it would be a clear sunrise. This was my favorite time in these massive mountains, as the white peaks all around were lit up first, and then the glow crept gradually down into the valley. Tengboche monastery receives the first rays here. It is not only one of the most important centres of Nepali Buddhism but also a beautiful structure in itself.
