Photographer's Note

Kathmandu Durbar Square is the plaza in front of the old Royal Palace. The original palace was started in 1069 and has been reconstructed numerous times. There are several "Durbar Squares" in Nepal because there were several royal palaces and each had one. Update: this square was significantly damaged by the April 25, 2015 earthquake.
