Photographer's Note

Nagarkot, slightly west of the Kathmandu Valley provides a stunning view of the Himalaya. According to recent legend, the first tourists in Nagarkot were Punjabi mercenaries, stationed to defend the valley against the Gorkas. However, the punjabis enjoyed the view so much, the got drunk and were slaughtered when the invader reached them. Now, however, the town is regarded as more Thamel [tourist district in Kathmandu] than a typical Nepali town.

I was staying in a hotel with an amazing view of the mountains, and woke up just in time to see the sun peaking over the edge.
