Photographer's Note

Chin village in Rakhine state was the most remote place I visited in Myanmar and the farthest of civilization I have ever been. Even in Africa, in the places I visited, there were excellent campings, with electricity, running water, asphalt roads.. ( I was a bit disappointed, although it was quite comfortable). Already Mrauk U was difficult to go - one hour flight to Sittwe and then six hours by boat), but we had to go farther three hours by boat to reach this village. We were there with the owner of our hostel in Mrauk U, who knew all the people there, so we could visit the houses inside and the local school. The women of this villaged used to tattoo their faces. Now there are only seven women with such faces, they told us the stories about it. The poverty there is incredible, the people have nothing, no Internet - how could they when there is no electricity, no running water, telephones, no raods to the town, only transport by boats. But do they care? It was unique experience.

Once I found my Myanmar photos, I can't stop looking at them. But it is the last one, I will come back to France :). Two other shots in WS.
