Photographer's Note

The Akha are an ethnic group who live in small villages at higher elevations in the mountains of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Yunnan Province in China.
I spent a few days in Kyaing Tong, english= Kengtung
My guesthouse organized a local guide to visit some villages of the local hilltribes.
On a daytrip we met this Akkha woman with her typical headgear, selling some handwoven bags.
The coins are french franc. I enlarged the fotos and noticed that these are from 1896, 1902 and 1909.
Notice:
As a foreigner you are only allowed to reach Kyang Tong by plane: busses and taxis are not allowed because there is still some trouble with opium buisiness.
For trekking/ leaving the town you need a local guide who can organize a permit with a copy of your passport and you must be back before sunset.
